Il termine Liquid Jazz trova una rappresentazione talmente azzeccata in Y-Otis da sembrare fisicamente palpabile.

Tra Gothenburg, Berlino e Helsinki, Otis Sandsjö crea un progetto che affonda mani, piedi e strumenti nell’hip hop e nella sperimentazione elettronica, rimanendo però estremamente jazzistico.

Y-Otis è un quartetto che riesce in un intento contemporaneo arduo: innovarsi senza pretese, e lo fa convincendoci sia un processo easy, dandoci confidenza attraverso suoni caldi e sensuali.

Considerato tra i sassofonisti più originali di questo tempo, Otis Sandsjö è capace di farsi ascoltare a ripetizione, sorvolando umori e contesti e confermando Y-Otis uno degli Act più invitanti in circolazione.

Sometimes described as Liquid Jazz, the music of Y-Otis indeed flows readily out of any possible container, bending genre boundaries while continuing to draw heavily on deep-laid roots in jazz. Following experiences in Gothenburg, Berlin and Helsinki, Otis Sandsjö’s project manages to gracefully mix hip hop, jazz and electronics into something which doesn’t quite fit anywhere you care to put it, while nonetheless accomplishing the non-trivial task of innovating without pretentiousness: the result seems easy, almost inevitable, sensual and welcoming, but the speed at which this music evolves onstage is breathtaking and thrilling.
